Space invader is a wall-mounted magazine rack. It is folded from one single flat sheet of aluminum, connections are riveted. All the necessary cuts and creases are CNC-milled by a three-axis router. The design allows for flat-pack shipping and manual assembly with no additional tools required.

The figures are all made of a 6×6 pixel image. The axial symmetry reduces it to 3×6=18 pixels that can either be in the front- or in the backplane (or cut out). This makes 218 = 226’144 possible figures.
The further wish for a creature-esque look and the need for technical details like fixation “ears” and slide stoppers limited the solution space drastically and finally, four creatures were elected to populate the piece of furniture.
